Introduce the Week (3 min)

This week we will be defining stress, events that might stress us out, and ways to mitigate (or lessen) these stressors in our lives. Everyone experiences stress differently, this week we will explore more of that!


Show & Share (10-min)

A time you went on a road trip. Share about a time you took either a long or short road trip. 


Tomorrow's Show & Share: 

Your favorite flower. Tomorrow is California Poppy Day, the orange poppies that California is known for. What is your favorite flower and why?


Plan Your Week (10 Mins)

PRESENTERS: Each week will start with reviewing portfolio planners to update tasks, appointment or other things that should be marked in their portfolio planner.


Review your plans for the week. **Planner Pages April 4 to April 10**Do you have any tasks or habits you need to work on? Write, draw, doodle, or sticker in things you need to get done this week.


My Challenging Experience (10-15 mins)

PRESENTORS: Participants will use worksheet to describe challenges they have felt over the years. Follow along with the worksheet and complete it as a team.

Think of a time you had a challenging or stressful experience. Share a couple of those experiences with the team.

  • Once you find your challenging experiences, describe the challenge on your portfolio planner worksheet called **Overcoming Challenges**
  • Share how this challenge was overcome: What did you need to do? Did you have to get help from someone else? How did you ask for help?
  • Discuss challenges together as a team.
  • Add two ways that address challenges in the future

Accessibility in My Virtual Program Workspace (10 Mins)

Presentors: Discuss important ways to keep the workspaces participants use for programs safe and accessible for them. The printable in the portfolio planner includes a brief check list of things to look out for in their workspace.

In our virtual workspaces, what is an obstruction? Why do obstructed walkways pose a risk to our virtual program workspace?

  • Share a few tips on how to keep walkways clear for the future (ideas for organizational skills to keep walkways clear – tips and tricks)
  • What else poses a threat if not addressed in your workspace? Create a zoom list of  items that may be hazards in your virtual program workspace.
  • In your portfolio planner, review the checklist for safe workspaces  **Safety in my Workplace Checklist**   What are some things that surprised you about this list? Where there some new things that you had to consider to make your space safer for work?

PRESENTERS: Take turns reading the link to the article provided and allow time to reflect.

Like we learned yesterday, we are all members of different cultures and need to be respectful and mindful that individuals come from all different types of backgrounds.

  • Every culture has their own set of rules that are followed and are the standards for respect and kindness, what is considered good and bad, and even the way you speak to one another!
  • Examples of cultural differences and these differences impact the workplace
  • Examples of certain cultural differences that we might find interesting, share with the group!
  • Find a team member that has something culturally different than you. Explain that difference and then share with the team about what surprised you about these differences.

Addressing challenges in program (10-15 min)

PRESENTERS: Keeping with the challenge theme, we will discuss times we've worked through challeneges and stressors in program

Everyone has had a challenge in program. Someone might have a bad day, some one might struggle with a schedule change, it happens to everyone!

  • What are some struggles that you've come across in program?  How did you address it?
  • Create a zoom list of ways to address challenges and struggles that we've come across and our team members may come across in the future.

Life Skills Story Worksheet: **Controlling emotional Reactions **(5-10 min)


In this week's Life Skills Story strong emotions affect the character. This worksheet explores how we experience that personally. 


PRESENTERS: Complete the life skills story worksheet as a team. Have participants share their answers. Remind the group of the storyline if they don't recall it.
