Life Skills Story: **Secret Sounds**


In this story, Todd has a surprise for Kyle on his birthday. 


Read the whole story today, or read half and finish tomorrow.  


PRESENTERS: Read aloud with your group, or have some readers help. When reading aloud exaggerate tone and emotion somewhat to increase engagement. 


Stop reading a few times to prompt participants to VISUALIZE what the words describe. This is an important part of learning to read well which is often challenging.

Thematic Connection: Happiness


 Did you know that our happiness increases as we age?


Part 1: Using the handout provided complete parts of the **Monthly Happiness Audit ** worksheet as a group. 


Before starting the exercise, go over the different parts of the worksheet. (Presenters: Have Volunteers read out what each box says, starting from the upper left moving down) 


Part 2: After you have reviewed each box: For this activity we will be reflecting about the Month of September.  We will focus on 4 of the 7 boxes. (Presenters: If you have enough time, do all 7 of the boxes- It’s a great worksheet!) 


1. Complete Box Titled: Recall your Happiest Moment of September. (Presents: Make sure to share screen this document so participants can annotate as they wish.) 


2. Complete Box Titled: Recall your happiest moment of September. (Presenters: Encourage everyone to fill In the box at home, discuss it as a group and type in the chat if they want too) 


3. Complete Box Titled: What put you in the best mood? Staff feel encouraged to share too!


4. Complete Box Titled: 1 thing you could have done better.
